Before Oregon: Redshirted his freshman season at UCLA…placed seventh at the IAAF World Junior Championships in the shot put with a mark of 63-0…finished second at the USATF Junior Track and Field Championships in the shot put with a throw of 63-2.75…threw the discus 176-0 to place ninth at the junior national meet…attended Crespi High School in Encino, Calif…lettered three times in track, twice in football and once in wrestling…a four-time All-CIF honoree…named the team’s MVP in 2013…captured gold at the Age 17-18 Division of the USATF Youth Outdoor Championships with a discus throw of 199-11, nearly 23-feet longer than the next competitor…went on to place eighth in his age group at the IAAF World Youth Championships in Ukraine…placed second at the CIF State Championships in the shot put (62-9.75) and third in the discus (187-6)…won 10 prep meets in the shot put as a junior and four in the discus…has thrown personal bests of 66-8.75 in the shot put and 199-11.75 in the discus.
