Thomas Osborne was promoted to assistant coach on July 1, 2021, and is in his second season with the program.
He has been part of a staff that has forged a 15-9-11 record over the last two seasons and produced consecutive winning seasons for the first time in 40 years.
The 2021 season saw the Ducks go 9-4-6 for their best record since 2006. Oregon's tie for fifth was the Ducks' best Pac-12 finish in 15 years. The Ducks set program records for the most all-Pac-12 picks (four) and United Soccer Coaches all-Pacific Region selections (four).
In his first campaign on the UO sideline (2020-21) as a volunteer assistant, Osborne helped guide Oregon to its first winning season since 2006 (6-5-5) as the program established a school record for lowest goals against average (0.69). Goalkeeper Leah Freeman set the school's single season record for lowest goals against average (0.74) and was named to the all-Pac-12 third team as well as the Pac-12's all-freshman team.
Osborne came to Eugene after spending the previous two seasons as a graduate assistant at Columbus State, where the Cougars were 31-8-2 during his tenure, including an 18-1-2 mark in 2018, when CSU won the Peach Belt Conference with a 10-0 record. That squad advanced to the 2018 NCAA Division II Tournament quarterfinals.
Prior to Columbus State, Osborne spent four years as a goalkeeper for Limestone College. In his senior season, he posted a 15-3 record while having a 0.52 goals against average with nine shutouts.
While at Limestone, Osborne was named to the United Soccer Coaches association all-Southeast Region second team, the D2CCA all-Southeast Region first team, and the all-Conference Carolinas first team as a senior.
Osborne also spent a summer interning with the NWSL’s Orlando Pride working with the goalkeepers.
The Summerville, S.C., native graduated from Limestone with a Bachelor's of business in sports management and business management in 2018. He added a Master’s Degree from Columbus State in 2020.
