Late Goal Hurts Oregon in Civil War

CORVALLIS, Ore. – Oregon State scored on a free kick in the 87th minute to defeat Oregon 1-0 in the Civil War Thursday night at Paul Lorenz Field.
How It Happened: In the waning moments of the second half, the Ducks (5-9-5, 1-8-2 Pac-12) were whistled for a hand ball just outside the penalty box. Paula Leblic took the free kick for the Beavers (11-6-2, 3-6-2) and tucked her shot inside the far post for the only goal of the game.
Katelyn Carter made three saves in another solid effort in net for Oregon. The senior from Fullerton, Calif., made a diving stop in the 30th minute and a point-blank save in the 40th minute.
Who Stood Out: Carter played her best soccer of the season over the last four games. Though the Ducks went 1-3 in that span, Carter had 19 saves with a 0.75 goals against average against Arizona State, USC, UCLA and OSU.
What It Means: The all-time Civil War series is now a draw at 10-10-4.
Notable: Emma Eddy, Caitlin Shaw, Zoe Hasenauer and Jordan Wormdahl each attempted two shots for the Ducks.
Up Next: The Civil War was the last match of the 2019 season.
