UPDATED at 1:45 p.m. Thursday.
EUGENE. Ore. — The Oregon soccer team will host the third annual St. Baldrick's Bald Fest Saturday from noon to 2 p.m. at Pape' Field.
During the event's silent auction, fans will have the opportunity to bid on a football autographed by 2014 Heisman Trophy winner Marcus Mariota, as well as a basketball signed by the Ducks' 2019 NCAA Final Four women's basketball team.
The free festival will also feature celebrity dodgeball, food trucks, carnival games and the shaving of heads for charity.
The head-shaving portion of the event will commence at 1:30 p.m. and UO head football coach Mario Cristobal will once again be one of the featured guests.
The St. Baldrick's Foundation raises funds to find a cure for childhood cancer. Every two minutes, a child is diagnosed with cancer. The previous two years, Oregon has raised more than $70,000 for the St. Baldrick's Foundation.
As of Thursday afternoon, the team had raised $21,000, exceeding this year's initial goal of $20,000. The team has set a new goal of $25,000. To donate online, use the link: https://www.stbaldricks.org/events/UO2019.
Several current UO student-athletes are again involved with the festival this year. Satou Sabally from the Final Four women's basketball team has raised nearly $4,000 thus far, while event organizer Emily Kaestner of the Ducks' soccer team has exceeded $3,200. UO women's golfer Madi Daniel has checked in with more than $2,000.
Soccer public address announcer Peg Rees has raised more than $1,000, as have assistant soccer coach Manny Martins, UO defender Hannah Taylor and distance runner Blake Haney, who had his head shaved earlier this week since he will be in Tucson competing for the Ducks at the 2019 Pac-12 Track and Field Championships.
KWVA radio play-by-play announcer Shawn Medow will serve as emcee of the event.
One of the highlights of the festival will be a silent auction. In addition to the Mariota football and the women's basketball, other auction items include UO gear, themed baskets like 'movie day' and 'spa day', a St. Baldrick's package and other autographed memorabilia.
Food trucks include Every Day Kind Grindz, which features Hawaiian-themed cuisine, and Sweet Bay Ice, offering authentic Hawaiian shave ice.
There will also be a photo booth and carnival games, such as corn hole and spike ball, and a mini soccer field.
Later on Saturday, the Ducks will wrap up their spring training slate with a friendly against Oregon State that kicks off at 5 p.m. at Pape' Field.
