EUGENE, Ore. – The Oregon track and field team will get a jump start to its 2022 outdoor campaign with the PNW Invitational on Saturday. The one-day meet begins at 10 a.m. (PT) at the Whyte Track and Field Center in Corvallis, Ore.

The Ducks will be represented by 16 student-athletes with nine distance entries and seven from the UO throws group. Among the entries, freshman Mine De Klerk will be making her collegiate debut as one of three Ducks along with Ellie Akough and Jaida Ross competing in the women's discus.
Ross, an NCAA West Preliminary qualifier in the shot put, finished 11th in the discus at last year's Pac-12 Championships. The Medford, Ore., native enters the outdoor season ranked No. 3 in program history in the shot put.
Running events begin at 1 p.m. with heats of the 1,500 meters—Saturday's primary event for UO—going off at 1:50 p.m.
Dania Holmberg carries a lifetime best of 4:25.74 from last year's Division II NCAA Championships where she was a finalist in the event for Seattle Pacific. Nicole Louw also owns a sub-4:30 best in the event with a 4:29.36 from the preliminary rounds of the 2021 Pac-12 Championships.

Saturday's meet marks the first of three-consecutive weekends of competition for Oregon coupled with the SDSU Aztec Invitational (March 25-26) in San Diego and the home-opening Hayward Premiere (April 1-2) back in Eugene.
