Ducks Fall at New Mexico
08/25/24 | Women's Soccer
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – New Mexico twice took advantage of turnovers by the Ducks deep in their own territory and Oregon fell to the Lobos, 3-1, Sunday at UNM Soccer Complex.
Three of the game's four goals came in a six-minute span early in the first half, including the first career score for the Ducks' Cameron Bourne.
Oregon is 2-2 through the first two weeks of the season.
How It Happened: The Lobos got on the scoreboard early with a goal in the sixth minute.
New Mexico (2-1) then added a second score in the 10th minute after the Ducks turned the ball over on the defensive end.
Oregon answered two minutes later with Bourne's goal. Sydney Cradle took the ball up the right side and found Grace Mensah in the penalty area. Mensah was briefly disposed of the ball by a New Mexico defender, but regained possession and crossed the ball to Bourne, who finished with a header into the left side of the net.
The Lobos led 2-1 at halftime.
New Mexico took advantage of another poor clearance by the Ducks in the 56th minute for the final goal of the match.
Taylor Bryan led the Ducks with four shots.
Notable: Mensah's assist was her team-leading second of the season. … Maddy Goldberg made a season-high six saves.
Up Next: Oregon hosts Cal State Northridge September 1. The match was recently moved from 1 p.m. to a noon kickoff in order to accommodate CSUN's travel.
