PERSONAL ? Born Sharrod S. Davis on Feb. 27, 1985 in San Diego, Calif. Parents: Ricky and Felicia Davis. Family: One brother, one sister. High School (Coach): Monte Vista (Ed Carberry) 2004. Major: Undeclared. Redshirt: 2004.
HIGH SCHOOL ? The first-team all-East County defensive stalwart was rated among the top 50 prep prospects in the state (SuperPrep) as well as one of the 15 elite defensive backs. In addition to acquiring first-team all-Grossmont South League and all-East County accolades on both sides of the ball, the second-team all-CIF San Diego Section product ranked sixth in the East County in scoring (12 TDs) and 12th in all-purpose yards (973) as a senior. Was instrumental in leading team to a 11-2 record in 2003, tallying 40 tackles and four interceptions (82 yards) in addition to averaging 19.9 yards on 14 kickoff returns. The second-team all-county receiver totaled 450 yards and five touchdowns as the Monarchs’ leading pass catcher, including 143 yards and two touchdown catches in win over Oceanside. Accumulated 1,200 rushing yards and 600 yards receiving his junior year after tallying over 1,000 yards on the ground in 2001.
OREGON ? Emerged as one of secondary’s biggest spring surprises due to added maturity and gaining a grasp of the defense. Possesses skills as a very physical cornerback who has improved his anticipation of what to expect. Accumulated three tackles and one pass broken up in the 2005 Spring Game. Is expected to be a major contributor on special teams this fall in addition to adding to the depth in the secondary.
2004 ? Rewarded as scout team special teams player of the week for assisting in preparations leading up to the Washington State contest as well as defensive accolades vs. California.
