PERSONAL ? Born Mark Devlin Bayne Jr. on Aug. 8, 1985 in Houston, Tex. Parents: Mark and Rachel Bayne. Family: One brother. High School (Coach): Carlin (Myron Branning) 2004. Major: Undeclared. Redshirt: 2004.
HIGH SCHOOL ? Selected first-team Northern 1A All-Division as both a tight end and defensive end as well as league defensive MVP for a program which accumulated consecutive 1A state titles (eight-man football) his junior and senior seasons. Grabbed 23 receptions for 606 yards and nine touchdowns during the 2003 campaign in addition to posting 20 tackles. Developed the reputation as a big-play threat, garnering a quartet of scoring receptions of 40 yards or more (including a long of 80 yards) and 12 quarterback sacks over his last two seasons despite constant double and triple-team efforts by opposing offenses. Played a major role in assisting the Railroaders to a 19-1 record over his final two years, including a 47-6 win over Alamo for his second straight state championship as a senior, with his team outscoring the opposition, 560-166.
OREGON ? Possesses the physical tools to be successful down the road, yet needs to acquire more repetitions to master the intricacies and technique of defensive line play. Reigns as the squad’s second-fastest defensive lineman yet needs more work in the weight room to build mass and strength.
2004 ? Lauded for effort in helping preparations prior to the Oklahoma game as was named scout team’s defensive player of the week.
