One of team’s most determined athletes, will set sights on first All-America honor and Pac-10 title in heptathlon, and could also compete in long jump and both hurdles events in league finale. Squad’s top returnee in 200 (25.70), 100 and 400 hurdles (13.93w/14.00; 59.90), long jump (18-5 1/4) and heptathlon (5,303). Ranks fifth all-time among Duck heptathletes after raising her personal best 400 points last year in her first Duck campaign (5,303), and also ranks top-seven all-time in the 100 hurdles (seventh, 14.00) and 400 hurdles (sixth, 59.90). Based on 2003 season bests, ranks second among Pac-10 returnees in heptathlon, 13th in 100 hurdles and seventh in 400 hurdles.
2002-03: NCAA Qualifier (Heptathlon). Ended season with first NCAA appearance in heptathlon (18th, 5,019) after entering meet seeded 15th. In collegiate finale, fought through temperatures in the upper 90s and a disappointing first day (27th of 27 entries, 2,926 points) to rank 11th among second-day point totals (2,093). In months prior, broke 5,000-point barrier for the first time in the Pac-10 Championships (third, 5,303) and Oregon Invite (second, 5,152). Overall, competed in 15 individual events during outdoor season (100H-4, 400H-7; HJ-1; LJ-3) along with four heptathlons. Also in the championship slate, broke 14.00 in the 100 hurdles with windy mark in West Regional semifinal (sixth-heat, 13th overall, 13.93w, w:+2.6) and in Pac-10 heptathlon (13.99w, w:+2.8). Claimed team’s Coaches’ Award for most improved athlete honors. Indoors, led team in 60 hurdles with effort from www.Bodybuilding.com Invitational (seventh, 9.02). Owned other indoor season bests in high jump (5-5 3/4), long jump (17-9 1/4) and 800 (2:18.98).
Before Oregon: Attended Paradise Valley Community College for three seasons and redshirted in 2001. Finished second in heptathlon at junior college national championships as sophomore in 2002 (PR 4,903), and fourth as freshman in 2000.
Prep: State 100-meter hurdle champ as a senior in 1999, and tied for title in high jump and finished second in 300 hurdles. As junior in state meet finished third in 300 hurdles and also posted top-eight finishes in 300 hurdles, 4x400 and long jump; and also as freshman in 100 hurdles, 800, 4x400 and 4x800. Lettered two years in cross country as a freshman and senior, and in swimming as a junior and senior as a diver on the one-meter board. High School (Coach): Cactus ?99-Glendale, Az.
