Collegiate decathlon prospect after competing at state level in sprints and hurdles as a senior. He took ninth in the 2003 USA Junior Championships (5,972), and his personal best of 6,014 with international implements was tops nationally among preps in 2003.
Prep: As a senior in 2003, was a second-team all-state selection in the 110 hurdles (fifth, 15.31). Fell one spot shy of qualifying for the state 400 final, an event in which he ranked third in the season during the year (49.53a). As a junior in 2002, he took fourth in the state 400 (50.00a), behind current Duck Jordan Kent. Also a three-year letterwinner as a receiver in football (and state quarterfinalists as a junior) and point-guard in basketball, and a one-time letterwinner in cross country.
