2002-03: Redshirted indoor and outdoor track seasons. During cross country, was distance unit's top true freshman addition and raced in five meets - three of them on the varsity. Made NCAA (212th, 32:29) and Western Regional Championships (95th, 33:20) debuts. Also led ?B' units in Pier Park Preview (second, 24:44) and Beaver Classic (seventh, 18:39). Made varsity debut as squad's eighth finisher in Roy Griak Invitational (174th, 26:32).
Prep: Finished 14th as a senior in 2001 Foot Locker Midwest Regional (5K-16:04) and won state title (15:46.97). Took third (16:41) as a junior in the 2A state cross country championship, 17th as a sophomore and 57th as a freshman. On the track, placed top three as a senior in the 2A state finale (3,200, first, 9:33.00; 1,600, third, 4:24.66), after regular season bests of 9:40.20 and 4:26.60, respectively. As junior at state track finale, finished second in 3,200 and eighth in 1,600, and also was a state qualifier as a sophomore. High School (Coach): Sturgis Brown (Holly Kopplin).
