2008: Named to the Pac-10 All-Academic First-Team ... Played in 17 games, starting 15 ... Scored two goals, including one in a 1-0 win over Utah State ... Fourth on the team in scoring with seven points (two goals, three assists) ... Both goals scored were game winners, coming against Utah State and Utah ... Blasted 26 shots on the year, with 13 on goal ... Her 50% shots on goal percentage tied for the team lead with players taking more than 10 shots ... Played in 874 minutes on the year, with season-high 79 minutes at Long Beach State.
2007: Oregon’s co-leader in goals scored with five and ranked second on the squad in points with 13. Was third with three assists. Tied for second on the team with 25 shots, over half of which were on net (13). Started all 20 games. Netted early season goals in wins against Boise State and UC Riverside. Also scored in 3-2 loss at No. 15 Purdue. First two-goal game game in 5-1 win at Illinois State, one of which was her first career game-winner. Assisted on Tiffany Smith’s game-winning goal versus Portland State. Also assisted on Darcie Gardner’s scores against Gonzaga and Arizona. Named to the Pac-10 all-academic second team.
2006: Move to the midfield paid off with six goals and a team-best four assists for 16 points. Was second on the squad in goals, points and shots (24) while starting all 20 games. Ranked tied for seventh in the Pac-10 in goals and tied for eighth in points. Ranked tied for ninth on the UO single season goals list, tied for seventh on the season assists list and 10th on the UO points list. Of her 10 shots that were on goal, six found the net. Scored Oregon’s first goal of the season at Loyola Marymount. Started Oregon’s comeback win against Iona (3-2 win) with the Ducks’ first goal of the game. Assisted Nicole Garbin’s score versus Nevada. Tallied a pair of assists against Idaho, including Garbin’s game-winner and Megan Watson’s late insurance score. Scored the first goal in Oregon’s 3-1 win over Washington. Recorded the game-tying goal in the 67th minute against Oregon State, a game the Ducks won 2-1 in overtime. Memorable performance in 2-1 upset of No. 3 UCLA, when she scored in the 63rd minute on a difficult angle from the left corner, and then got the assist when her throw in helped Garbin beat her defender and score the golden goal game-winner with less than three minutes remaining in double overtime. Also scored Oregon’s first goal in season-ending 3-1 defeat of USC. Named Pac-10 all-academic honorable mention. Won the 2006 Oregon club championship with Oregon United Soccer Academy (OUSA), playing with UO teammates Jessie Chatfield, Nicole Dobrzynski, Darcie Gardner, Adriana Montes and Rianna Mansfield.
2005: One of two true freshmen from Churchill High School to start all 19 games for the Ducks (goalkeeper Jessie Chatfield was the other). Showed off offensive ability with a pair of assists on the season. Assisted on Caitlin Gamble’s late score versus South Dakota State. Also had an assist on an Andrea Valadez goal versus Nevada. Attempted nine shots. Key member of a defense that recorded a school season-record seven shutouts. Also helped Oregon record three shutouts in a row in September and garner a school-record scoreless streak that reached 355:47.
High School: Churchill High School female athlete of the year led the Lancers to the 2002 Midwestern League title along with teammate Jessie Chatfield. Four-time all-Midwestern league selection and was the league’s MVP in 2004. Was an all-state first team pick as a senior and a second team choice as a junior. Four-year member of the state ODP team. Played for Oregon United Soccer Academy (OUSA) club that won the 2004 and 2006 state titles (plus four consecutive trips to the final four) and the 2003 Beaverton Cup. Also ran track as a senior and was a state qualifier in the 200 meters and the mile relay. National Honor Society member.
Personal: Allison Elizabeth Newton on Feb. 10, 1987, in Eugene, Ore. Parents are Greg and Andrea Newton. One sister. Major is history.
