Oregon’s top returning pole vaulter was a Pac-10 scorer and an NCAA Championships qualifier in 2008. As a prep, was an Arizona state champion as a senior and runner-up as a junior.
2009-10: Outdoors - Pac-10 and NCAA regional qualifier. Set an outdoor PR in the pole vault versus UCLA of 17-1.5/5.22m. Also cleared 17-0 (5.18m) at the Oregon Relays. Opened season with a win at the Oregon Preview (16-6.75/5.05m), Also cleared that height in a fourth-place finish at the Stanford Invitational. Improved to 16-7.25/5.06m in a second place finish at the Pepsi Team Invitational. Scored the biggest upset of the UCLA dual meet by winning the pole vault in an outdoor personal best 17-1.5/5.22m. Snapped pole led to a tough no height at the Pac-10 Championships. Cleared 16-8.75 in his final NCAA West Regional appearance. Pac-10 all-academic honorable mention. Indoors - NCAA provisional qualifier in the pole vault. Opened season with an indoor personal best pole vault of 17-5 (5.31m) at the UW Indoor Preview. Tied for third at the Texas A&M Challenge (16-4.75). Nearly hit 17-0 again (16-11.5) two weeks later at the Husky Classic. Topped 17-0, going 17-1.75, at the UW Last Chance Qualifier. Season Bests: Outdoors - Pole Vault - 17-1.5/5.22m (PR), UCLA Dual, Eugene, Ore. (4/17/10). Indoors - Pole Vault - 17-5/5.31m (PR), UW Indoor Preview, Seattle, Wash. (1/16/10).
2008-09: Pac-10 and NCAA West Regional qualifier. Solid start to the indoor season with a clearance of 16-7.25 at the UW Indoor Preview. Also cleared that bar at the Husky Classic. Tied for sixth in a season-best performance at the MPSF Championships, where he cleared 16-11.5. Outdoors, took third in the UCLA dual meet (16-6.75). Made his second straight Pac-10 Championships appearance. Ended year with a season-best effort at the NCAA West Regional (16-7.25). Pac-10 All-Academic honorable mention. Season Bests: Outdoors - 16-7.25/5.06m, NCAA West Regional, Eugene, Ore. (5/30/09). Indoors - 16-11.5/5.17m, MPSF Championships, Seattle, Wash. (2/28/09).
2007-08: NCAA Championships qualifier and Pac-10 scorer capped his sophomore season with a career-best 17-1 clearance at the NCAA West Regional. Won the pole vault at the Oregon Preview (16-0.75) and the Pepsi Team Invite (16-6.75). Matched that mark at the Pac-10 Championships to finish fifth to score four points as Oregon won its fourth Pac-10 title in six years. Terrific effort at the NCAA West Regional, where he cleared 17-1 to earn his first trip to the NCAA Championships. Established indoor career best 17-0.25 to finish fourth at the MPSF Championships. Pac-10 All-Academic honorable mention. Season Bests: Outdoors - 17-1, NCAA West Regional, Northridge, Calif. (5/30/08). Indoors - 17-0.25, MPSF Championships, Seattle, Wash. (3/1/08).
2006-07: Outdoors, led Ducks in three pole vault competitions, the Clif Bar ASU Invitational, Pepsi Team Invitational and Oregon Twilight. Opened and closed outdoor season with runner-up finishes and season bests of 16-0.75 in the Oregon Preview and Oregon Twilight. Scored first collegiate win in mid-April’s Oregon Invitational. At season’s end, ranked third among Pac-10 freshmen. Indoors, competed in four meets in Seattle and raised indoor best in three of them. Season Bests: Outdoors - 16-0 3/4, Oregon Twilight, Eugene, Ore. (5/5/07). Indoors - 16-1 1/4, Husky Collegiate, Seattle, Wash. (2/10/07).
Prep: Won Arizona 4A state pole vault title as a senior (14-6), and also was state runner-up as a junior (14-3). Four-time regional champion and four-year track letterwinner.
