Redshirt senior is an NCAA Championships qualifier and the team’s top returnee in the steeplechase for the third straight season. Two-time veteran for Canadian World Junior Championships teams in both cross country and track and field. Three-time top-five finisher in the Pac-10 Championships steeplechase.
2008-09: Pac-10 3,000 meter steeplechase champion. Outdoors - One of the top steeplechasers in the nation. Became Oregon's first Pac-10 steeplchase champion in 10 years when he won the title in 8:51.48. Opened season eighth in a strong steeple field at the Stanford Invitational (8:52.44). Was second at the Pepsi Team Invitational (8:52.63). Won the event in the dual with UCLA (8:57.41). Set a personal best in another strong field at the Cardinal Invitational, finishing 13th in 8:42.03. After the Pac-10 victory, finished third at the NCAA West Regional in 8:53.93 to advance to the NCAA Championships. There, just missed scoring for the runner-up Ducks with a ninth place finish in 8:46.09. Cross Country - After winning the season-opening Pre’s Trail Run (22:29.44), placed 20th at the Bill Dellinger Invitational (24:48.98) as the team’s fifth runner to help Oregon earn a close victory. Finished third at the Mike Hodges Invitational (19:42). Capped cross country season with a 27th-place finish at the Pac-10 Championships (24:31.96). Pac-10 Cross Country All-Academic honorable mention. Pac-10 Track & Field All-Academic second team. Season Bests: Outdoors - 3,000 Meter Steeplechase - 8:42.03 (PR), Cardinal Invitational, Stanford, Calif. (5/2/09).
2007-08: NCAA Championships qualifier and Pac-10 scorer in the steeplechase. Ran the 3,000 meter steeplechase in six meets. Improved his time in each of his first four races. Won the event at the Pepsi Team Invite (9:04.99). Took second at the Oregon-UCLA dual meet (8:58.14), before running 10th at the Cardinal Invitational (8:56.24). Clocked personal-best in the steeplechase at the Pac-10 Championships where he finished third in 8:46.91 to score six points for Oregon’s back-to-back Pac-10 champions. Good showing at the NCAA West Regional where he ran sixth (8:48.42) to advance to the NCAA Championships for the first time. At the national meet in Des Moines, ran 13th in the preliminaries (8:52.57) to advance to the finals, where he finished 12th in 8:51.44. Redshirted in cross country. USTFCCCA All-Academic first team. Pac-10 Track and Field All-Academic honorable mention. Season Bests: Outdoors - 3,000 Meter Steeplechase - 8:46.91, Pac-10 Championships, Tempe, Ariz. (5/17/08). Indoors - 3,000 Meters - 8:16.24, MPSF Championships, Seattle, Wash. (3/1/08).
2006-07: Pac-10 Scorer and an NCAA West Regional qualifier in the steeplechase. Contributed key points to UO’s Pac-10 Championship track and field team victory with season best in the steeplechase. Two weeks later, tied his best West Regional finish in Eugene. Indoors, opened season with a 3,000-meters personal best, and two weeks later lowered mile best in Husky Collegiate. In cross country, raced in Duck top-seven in all five of his contests. Competed for third time in his career in the Pac-10 Championships and West Regional. Pac-10 all-academic track and field honorable mention. Season Bests: Outdoors - 3,000 Meter Steeplechase - 8:51.62, Pac-10 Championships, Stanford, Calif. (5/12/07); 5,000 Meters - 14:36.46 (PR), Stanford Invitational, Stanford, Calif. (3/30/07). Indoors - Mile - 4:09.43 (PR), Husky Classic, Seattle, Wash. (2/10/07); 3,000 Meters - 8:12.70 (PR), UW Indoor Invitational, Seattle, Wash. (1/27/07).
2005-06: Pac-10 scorer in the steeplechase. Closed spring with a season best in the Pac-10 Championships (fourth, 8:52.09). In fall, scored in all five cross country races for UO, and ranked second in three of the most critical stops of the season - the West Regional (19th), Pac-10 Championships (23rd) and Pre-NCAA Invitational. Pac-10 All-Academic honorable mention selection in cross country and track and field. Season Bests: Outdoors - 3,000 Meter Steeplechase - 8:52.09, Pac-10 Championships, Eugene, Ore. (5/14/06); Indoors - 3,000 Meters - 8:15.50, UW Invitational, Seattle, Wash. (1/28/06).
2004-05: World Junior Championships Competitor (Cross Country). Redshirted track and field seasons. During winter season, competed in World Junior Cross Country Championships in France (97th) after he placed seventh in Canadian Junior Cross Country Championships in Toronto. Finished second in Canadian Junior Championships steeplechase (8:54.99) and added third in the Junior Pan-American Games in Windsor, Ontario (8:58.49). Season Bests: Outdoors - 1,500 Meters - 3:52.66 (PR) , Oregon Invitational, Eugene, Ore. (4/23/05). Steeplechase - 8:54.99, Canadian Junior Championships, Montreal, Quebec (7/05/05).
Prep: In March 2004, he competed in the World Cross Country Championships in Brussels, Belgium in the junior men’s 8,000 meter race after he placed sixth in the national junior harrier championships in November 2003 in Toronto (26:46). Ran a steeplechase prep best (8:54.94) in a meet in Burnaby, British Columbia on July 1, 2004, and competed two weeks later in the World Junior Championships in Grosseto, Italy (19th, 9:00.58). As a senior, he ranked sixth among all Canadians and tops among juniors nationally. In 2003, he finished third in the World Junior Championships 2,000 meter steeplechase in Sherbrooke, Canada (5:44.23). Canadian junior national champion in 1,500 meter steeplechase, 3,000 meters and 3,000 meter steeplechase.
