The two-time Pac-10 decathlon veteran leads Duck decathon returnees in 2007-08 based on personal bests (6,720, 2006), and could also make Pac-10 returns in the long jump and high jump. Looks forward to his first NCAA decathlon qualifying mark, and the standards in 2008 follow: automatic 7,500, provisional 6,900. Initially transferred to Ducks for winter term of 2006 from Belarus State University, in which he attended for one year (2004-05) but did not compete athletically. Last name is pronounced SCHKUR-rah-tov.
2006-07: Pac-10 Qualifier (Decathlon). Competed in jumping events primarily outdoors until his second Pac-10 decathlon appearance when he was in scoring contention until the final lap of the 1,500m and did not finish the event. Returned the following week to compete in the league long jump (12th) and triple jump (13th). Altogether competed in one decathlon and 13 individual events outdoors (200m 1, 110m hurdles 4, long jump 5, triple jump 2, discus 1) and four events indoors (60m 1, high jump 1, long jump 2). 2005-06: Pac-10 Scorer (Decathlon). Scored his season highlight in high jump at home outdoors during the Pac-10 decathlon with a six-inch season best (6-10 3/4) that was also a regional qualifier. Ended the league decathlon in sixth place with a season best (6,720) and was one of five Ducks that finished top-10 in the event. Returned to Hayward Field the following week to compete in the high jump and long jump in Pac-10 open events and finished top-13 finishes in both (11th / 13th), respectively. Also competed in high jump in West Regional, but no-heighted at opening bar (6-9). Scored indoor long jump personal and team season best against conference rivals in the Mountain Pacific Championships (seventh, 2-3 1/2). Ended outdoor season ranked first team in high jump (6-10 3/4) and long jump (22-9 3/4) and third in the decathlon (6,720), and indoors stood first on team in long jump (23-3 1/2). Before Oregon: Outdoors in 2005, won Belarus 19-and-Under Championships titles outdoors in the long jump (23-2 1/2) and 110 hurdles (14.72), and won 110 hurdles (14.53) in Open Minsk Championships. Indoors in the 60 hurdles in ?05, won the Minsk Area Cup (7.98), and ran the Open Belarus Championship (third, 8.11-f, 8.08-p) and Minsk Championships (8.01). In prior years, won Belarus 17-and-Under Championship indoors in the 60 hurdles in 2003, and was top three indoors in the long jump in 2003 (third) in the high jump in 2002 (second), and outdoors in the 110 Hurdles (third) in 2003 and in the high jump in 2002 (second). Arrived in winter of 2006 with respetable outdoor event personal bests in the 100m (10.8), 110m hurdles (14.65), high jump (6-9 3/4, 2.08m) and shot put (7 kg - 39-5 1/4), and additional open indoor event bests in the 60m (7.06) and 1,000m (2:58.75)
