Team’s top returnee in 2005-06 in 400 (45.70) and ranks fourth all-time for Ducks. Ranks third among Duck returnees in 200 (21.41) with his indoor sophomore best. Was an All-American indoors in the 400, and three times prior in the 4x400 relay the past two seasons. Indoor school record holder in the 400 (45.95), and ranked third all-time indoors for UO in 200 (21.41).
2004-05: All-American (400, 4x100, 4x400). Ran anchor on 4x400 relay in NCAA Outdoor Championships (school record 3:00.81, 3:04.10-prelims), Pac-10 Championships (second, then-school record 3:03.27) and West Regional (second, 3:07.69). Altogether in 4x400 relay action, ran final leg on four relays that ranked top-eight all-time in outdoor school history. Ran second leg on 4x100 relay school records in NCAA Championships final (sixth, 39.20) and prelims (39.22), and Pac-10 Championships final (second, 39.29). In 400, sped to .05-second personal best in NCAA semifinal (45.70) to earn USA Championships invite (16th, 46.65, 46.25-p). Earlier in postseason run, came away with fourth-place finishes in finals of Pac-10 Championships (46.11, 46.47-p) and NCAA West Regional (46.52, 45.75-p). In 400, ended season ranked 21st in U.S., 11th among collegians, and third in the region based on outdoor season bests. Also anchored UO’s first indoor All-America 4x400 relay (fifth, 3:05.26), after squad ranked second nationally with its indoor school record from the NCAA Last Chance Qualifier (first, 3:04.17). Added All-America honors in the NCAA 400 (ninth, 47.15, 46.61-p) after he ranked third during the season with his personal best and school record from the NCAA Last Chance Qualifier (first, 45.95). Overall, the Duck 4x400 relay ran four of the top six times in indoor school history in ’05. Third Team Academic All-American. Pac-10 All-Academic First Team. Personal/Seasonal Bests: Outdoors ? 200 - 21.52 (w:1.2), Golden Bear Invitational, Berkeley, Calif. (4/16/04). 400 - 45.70 (PR), NCAA Championships semifinal (6/10). 2003-2004: All-American (Outdoor 4x400). Closed outdoor season with anchor on 4x400 relay team that took fifth (3:03.88) - UO's second All-America honor in the event (the first came in 1972-fourth). The school-record quartet qualified for the NCAA finale with runner-up finish in the West Regional Championship meet (second, 3:03.73), which was preceded by school-record performance in the Pac-10 finale (second, 3:03.49). Overall, the 4x400 squad rewrote the preseason school record (3:06.3, 1971/1972) in the year's biggest meets with four, sub-3:04 clockings in the championship run. Individually, qualified for the NCAA finale in the West Regional Championships (fourth, 45.95) with a performance that matched his personal best, but elected to not race individually, in order to boost reserves for 4x400. Originally set personal best in scoring effort in the Pac-10 Championships (fifth, 45.95), after he advanced in the preliminary round the night before (third-heat, fifth-prelims overall, 46.27). Missed early season meets as he recovered from a hamstring injury suffered in the NCAA indoor finale. Opened outdoor season with win in the Oregon Invitational Twilight session at end of April (47.11). Ended season ranked fifth in the Pac-10 and region and 20th nationally in the 400. Indoors, anchored 4x400 quartet that qualified for NCAA finale with then-school record in February’s Iowa State Classic (third, 3:06.54). Opened NCAA indoor debut in 400 prelims (12th-p, 46.77) - one place better than his pre-meet seed. The next and final day, he was stricken with a hamstring pull midway through 4x400 anchor leg and was forced to jog home the final 1 1/4 laps (4:18.28). A month before in mid-February, set indoor individual school record in Iowa State Classic (third, 46.40) and broke his own record from a week earlier in the United Heritage Invitational (third, 46.76). Also, ranked first on squad indoors in the 200 with season best from the Bodybuilding.com Invitational (fourth, 21.41). Pac-10 All-Academic First Team selection. 2002-03: NCAA Qualifier (400, 4x400). Individually, ran personal and team season best in 400 prelims in NCAA Champs prelims (fifth-heat/18th overall, 46.47), and missed advancing to semis by two places and .04 seconds. Earned NCAA berth in West Regional (fourth-final, then-PR 46.59) after posting fastest times of prelims (then-PR, 46.85). Took seventh in Pac-10 Championships with then-season best that tied his prep best (seventh, 46.87) after entering meet seeded 14th. Altogether, he ran 400 seven times outdoors - with the last five all meeting the regional standard of 47.45. Also competed in 400 hurdles in three meets in first half of season and was sub-54.00 in all three (and all with .14 seconds of each other), with his personal best in the second race - Pomona Pitzer Invitational (12th, 53.21). Was one of three freshmen that ran on 4x400 relay in NCAA Championships, as Ducks improved from a pre-meet 25th-place seeding to miss final by three spots and 1.28 seconds (11th-prelims, 3:06.73, 45.7 second leg split). Qualified for collegiate finale with then-season best from the West Region Championships slower heat (second overall, 3:08.05) - and was .83 seconds behind the winner out of the faster heat. The 4x400 also won the slow heat in the Pac-10 finale (sixth overall, 3:09.42). Ended freshman season ranked 34th nationally and eighth among freshmen. Personal/Seasonal Bests: Outdoor - 400 - 46.47, NCAA Championships, Sacramento, Calif. (6/12/03). 400 Hurdles - 53.21, Pac-10 Championships, Los Angeles (5/18/03). Indoor - 200 - 22.05, Washington Invitational, Seattle (2/15/03). 400 - 48.07, Pac-10 Invite, Seattle (3/1/03).
Prep: As senior in 2002, accounted for all 28 of team’s state third-place points, scoring in 100 (third, 11.12), 200 (second, 22.16), 400 (second, 47.55) and triple jump (fifth, 44-0 3/4). Ended career as 10-time all-state selection, earning honors for each of his appearance in nine-person event finals. Owned 400 season bests of 47.43 as senior, 46.67 as junior, 48.68 as sophomore and 49.49 as freshman. Owned 100/200 bests of 10.51/21.81 as senior, 10.41/21.99 as junior, 10.95/22.6 as sophomore, and 11.07/- as freshman. Capped career with eight school records. In basketball, was a four-time letterwinner, three-time all-conference pick, and an all-state special mention honoree as a senior. Also lettered four seasons in golf with nine-hole best of 35.
