Returns for second season for Ducks in 2006 after she made she her NCAA debut for Oregon in the hammer in '05. Also trained in Eugene as a redshirt in 2004 after she transferred from Washington State. Raised school hammer record in 2005 to 199-2, and topped the previous mark (191-4) in five different contests as a junior in '05. Is coached by U.S. hammer record holder and 1996 Olympic silver medalist Lance Deal.
2004-05: NCAA Qualifier (Hammer): Made NCAA hammer debut (12th, 189-1), and five places better than her pre-meet seed after she also ranked 12th in the hammer (194-8) with her fourth-best mark of the season. Two weeks before, turned in her second-best mark ever in NCAA West Regional in Eugene (sixth, 196-0) ? one of three home meets she topped 190 feet along with Pepsi Team Invitational (first, current school record 199-2) and Oregon Invitational (fourth, 192-11). Boosted team in Pac-10 Championships (fourth, 189-5). Altogether, topped previous Duck record of former NCAA qualifier Jordan Sauvage (191-4) in five of her nine outdoor appearances and won two of them, including the Golden Bear Invitational in Berkeley, Calif. (195-10). Indoors, competed in weight throw twice, and broke school record by 7 1/2 inches in Mountain Pacific Championships (fourth, 59-5). Personal/Season Bests: Outdoors ? 2003-2004: Redshirted outdoor and indoor track and field seasons. Sat out 2004 season due to transfer requirements. Competed unattached twice in Eugene, and came away with two wins, and a new personal best in the hammer. Reached 200-foot barrier for the first time in career with win in the Oregon Invitational (200-3, 61.04m) in late April, and almost triumphed a week later in the Oregon Twilight (first, 198-3). Entered 2004 season with a best of 186-11, and improved her personal best in the hammer by more than 13 feet as an unattached entrant. Her 200-3 season and personal best from 2004 ranked her 29th in the U.S. at year’s end.
Before Oregon: Attended Washington State University, and competed for the Cougars track and field program for the 2002 and 2003 seasons. Competed in hammer in Pac-10 Championships as a sophomore (13th, 170-9) and freshman (ninth, 174-8), and also in discus as a freshman (17th, 122-0). As a sophomore in 2003, owned best of 186-11 from the Boise State-Idaho triangular. Was an NCAA provisional qualifier in the hammer in 2002 with the school’s freshman record (56.33m 184-10), and her other 2002 season bests follow: shot put (40-11-indoors), discus (154-11) and weight throw (56-8 1/2). Indoors in 2002, she upped school freshman weight throw record in five straight meets with a season best in the McDonald's II Meet in March (17.28m 56-8 1/2). Ended season with fifth-place finish in Mountain Pacific Championships (17.18m 56-4 3/4).
