Transferred to Oregon to utilize his final season of collegiate elgibility in 2006-07 and enrolled for winter term. Previously competed for Radford University (2003-04, '04-05, '05-06) and the University of Detroit (2002-03). Earned All-America honors as a junior in 2005 in hammer, and indoors in 2006 in the weight throw. Ranked 15th in the U.S. in the hammer as a redshirt junior for Radford in 2006 (PR 223-3).
Before Oregon: Ranked sixth among collegians during season thanks to his hammer personal best (223-3) - more than 15 better than his 2005 season best (207-8) that came in the NCAA prelims and ranked him 45th in the U.S. Earned All-America honors in 2005 NCAA Championships as a junior (10th, 201-0 / 207-8-prelims), while his previous season best (207-3) ranked him 23rd on the collegiate list before the NCAA meet. Also scored All-America indoors in 2006 in the weight throw (eighth, 69-3 1/2) after he ranked 14th among collegians prior to the meet with his personal and season best (69-4 1/4). As a sophomore for Radford initially set weight throw school record (57-4 3/4), then redshirted outdoor season (2004). As a freshman at Detroit Mercy, placed third in the 2003 Horizon League Outdoor Championships in the discus and hammer after he redshirted the indoor season. High School (Coach): Royal Oak Shrine Catholic '02 (Wilson).
Prep: State championships qualifier in the discus as a senior. Four-year letterwinner in track and field, and also lettered multiple years in football (3) as a defensive end and offensive lineman and in basketball (2) as a forward. His football team won the Catholic leage title in 2000 and '01. Honor roll and National Honor Society member.
